She received her Pilates certification from January Bess Steward in The Bess Method at The Studio of Unique Fitness. Monique has an extensive background in dance and has been teaching ballet at local dance studios since 2000. She received most of her training in ballet, modern and jazz at The Cleo Parker Robinson Dance School and later danced professionally with The Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble and other local dance companies. Monique is honored to now exclusively teach Pilates, ballet and barre fusion at The Studio of Unique Fitness. I was born and raised in NYC. I moved to Colorado in 1996. At the time I was a single mom. I got married and made a new life with my husband. Over the next few years I started having health issues. I gained a lot of weight, and ended up having to have back surgery. My doctor told me the only way I would get better is if I got into shape. After I lost the first 25 lbs., I joined a gym. The only two classes I felt I could do at that time spin and Latin dance. After a couple of months the Latin teacher left and they replaced it with Zumba. I fell in love. . After losing 70+ pounds my friends encouraged me to become an instructor. Zumba is for everyone. The thing I love the most is no matter where you are in your fitness journey there is zumba class to meet your needs. It’s not like any other class it’s fun and you get fit. My goal is give back what was given to me, a fun encouraging way to shake off stress, have fun, build friendships and get fit.

Pilates I am a Colorado native who graduated from Cherry Creek High School. I grew up being busy with sports like gymnastics and cheerleading. This path led me to school in Morehead, Kentucky for 3 years. Then my travels sent me to Germany where I studied abroad for 5 months. After my world travels, I returned home to finish my Math Education degree at Metro State University. Life should be filled with things that make you happy. That's why I teach Pilates, gymnastics and tumbling. And since I am a true mountain girl, I spend my free time hiking and snowboarding. I also spend my time exploring the world of aerial dance. I believe in the power of Pilates! It not only tones but increases flexibility. Even can relieve pain and stress. When you find control of your entire body, you truly can find all the happiness in your life.
